I never thought that I would become a surgeon… I cannot say that I had dreamt of becoming one since I was a child. My profession, which as the years passed, developed into a true passion, was not a revelation either, but the result of many years of searching for my own way. And precisely because of that, I think that I have chosen the right path.

About me

There were no doctors among my immediate family members and I think this might be the reason why I started studying medicine. Nobody was there to get this idea out of my mind in advance, making me realise how hard it would be. However, a part of my father’s family established in Cracow had had connections with medicine for many years.

Beginnings

I passed the entrance exams for the Medical University of Warsaw with an excellent result. However, the first year was so tough I even considered leaving the university. Luckily, after having finished the first year, it started to get better…

Ophthalmology – my passion

At the end of my studies, I got interested in neurosurgery. That is how my fascination with the nervous system began. However, the daily work of a neurosurgeon turned out to be too emotionally exhausting. Then, the eye – a little organ, as fascinating as the human brain – attracted my attention.

For more than 10 years, he served as the head of a glaucoma clinic. He has already performed several thousand cataract surgeries.

He is the author of numerous publications and presentations at national and international conferences. For many years, he has been a member of the Polish Ophthalmological Society, The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and Societas Ophthalmologica Europea.

Recipient of a grant from the European Society of Ophthalmology, under which she completed fellowships at the renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and the Department of Ophthalmology in Aarhus, Denmark.

Member of the scientific project “Strategmed” – Innovative Strategy for the Diagnosis, Prevention and Adjuvant Therapy of Selected Neurodegenerative Diseases in the Polish Population.

Her main professional interests include diseases of the anterior segment of the eye, especially corneal disorders such as inflammations, dystrophies, degenerations, keratoconus, and other corneal conditions.

She continuously expands her knowledge and skills by participating in numerous Polish and international conferences. She is the author of scientific publications and conference presentations, and a member of the Polish Ophthalmological Society.

She combines her passion for ophthalmology with aesthetic medicine and helping women maintain a youthful and attractive appearance. She performs blepharoplasty procedures, chalazion removal, and surgical removal of various eyelid lesions.

Dr. Szot provides comprehensive ophthalmic care for both adults and children. He specializes in the treatment of glaucoma, cataracts, optic neuritis, uveitis, and conjunctival diseases. He treats disorders affecting both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. In his daily practice, he performs a full range of diagnostic examinations, including ocular ultrasonography, enabling accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.

As an experienced ophthalmic surgeon, he performs laser vision correction procedures, intravitreal injections, and numerous procedures carried out both in outpatient settings and in the operating room. These include capsulotomy, glaucoma laser therapy, and procedures used in the treatment of retinal damage.

He is fluent in English and German, which allows effective communication with international patients.

Privately, he is passionate about art — he collects paintings and enjoys discovering new places while traveling. His openness, calm demeanor, and individual approach to each patient make him highly trusted and appreciated by those under his care.

Recipient of a scholarship from the SOE — Societas Ophthalmologica Europaea — which included fellowships at the Department of Ophthalmology at Aarhus University in Denmark and at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

He continuously expands his knowledge and skills by participating in many Polish and international congresses. Author of scientific publications and conference presentations. Participant in numerous specialist courses and training programs.

He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular surface diseases. He performs laser vision correction procedures and surgical treatment of keratoconus — cross-linking.

After obtaining his specialization, he decided to dedicate his professional career to pediatric ophthalmology by joining the Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw. He finds great satisfaction in running the Strabismus Treatment Clinic at this institution.

In his work, he combines his two greatest passions — working with children and treating strabismus.

He specializes in strabological examinations of infants and young children. He strives to make examinations as stress-free as possible for children and to provide parents with clear and understandable information.

He provides both conservative and surgical treatment of strabismus in accordance with modern evidence-based medicine.

He continuously improves his skills by participating in courses and international fellowships, including training at the renowned Munich Strabismus Clinic, known for its long-standing tradition in strabology.
